Extremism and Radicalisation

As part of safeguarding procedures, The Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 expects schools to prevent children and young people from being drawn into terrorism or extremism.

It is important that these risks and dangers are considered for every child, right across the country. This includes those places that have not traditionally seen themselves as being at risk, such as in a primary school like ours.

At Griffe Field, we do this in a number of ways. All staff are trained to be able to identify the risks of being drawn into terrorism and becoming radicalised, as well as being able to challenge extremist views and ideas. Visiting speakers and outside agencies working with children are checked and we have rigorous safer recruitment processes. We ensure that all children are safe online at school by using appropriate levels of filtering and monitoring.

Everyone has a responsibility to take action to report any concerning content online including our parents, staff, governors and children.
